Visages de l’abject
Deux ouvrages permettent d’envisager comme est perçue la collaboration par ses anciens apologues.
Céline, l’antisémite notoire, caché au Danemark entre 1945 et. 1951, après s’être réfugié à Sigmaringen en 1944, met tout en œuvre pour échapper à la Justice. De Copenhague, il écrit une multitude de lettres à ses trois avocats pour éviter d’être jugé.
Si les lettres sont intéressantes, car elles montrent la véritable fente dans laquelle verse le sinistre personnage. Céline cherchant à se justifier par tous les moyens continuant à se répandre et à se complaire dans la judéophobie et à se considérer comme une victime. Ces avocats, grâce à d’habiles stratagèmes, lui permettent d’échapper à tout jugement. Sa condamnation par contumace relevant de l’atteinte à la défense nationale, lui permet d’être amnistié, grâce à un jeu d’écriture, alors qu’il aurait dû être jugé pour intelligence avec l’ennemi. On peut être surpris par la présentation, les chefs d’inculpation sont à peine mentionnés et les publications de Céline qui lui ont valu ses procès et son jugement par contumace ne sont guère évoquées.
Inversement, l’ouvrage de Philippe Douroux est passionnant. Il pointe les responsabilités et appelle un antisémite par son nom. Il revient sur l’itinéraire de Jacques Évrard et sa correspondance avec Max Jacob. Le poète a rencontré en 1941 à Montargis un jeune homme qui vient de publier son premier recueil de vers. Jacob rédige un texte de conseils qui est publié à titre posthume en 1945 et écrit trois lettres à Evrard. À la fin de sa vie, Évrard, devenu chirurgien réputé, rédige une réponse. Mais entre les deux Max Jacob est mort à Drancy et Évrard s’est engagé dans la LVF puis a combattu sous l’uniforme de la SS. Douroux, qui a publié un remarquable livre sur son père, ancien combattant de la LVF (https://monde-libertaire.net/?articlen=8243&article=PAGES_DHISTOIRE_N_78) rappelle l’itinéraire du jeune homme devenu nazi. À la fin de la guerre, il réussit à faire oublier son passé sans rien renier de ses convictions et assassine Max Jacob une seconde fois dans un texte aux allures de testament prohitlérien, comme un autre Céline de pacotille.
